The FBI undoubtedly has a good idea what happened to MH370. The Kuala Lumpur Police have not released its detailed report on the Captain. The FBI was involved by looking at the Captain's hard drive and certainly has a report filed inside the bureau. It may take another decade or so before a Freedom of Information Act request could lead to release.

Another excellent story, David. You just keep coming with the most interesting articles. As a fiction writer, I immediately turn to the "Who Done It?" formula. You could log that under conspiracy theories, I guess. This certainly is a great plot line with a plethora of possibilities. Surely, more than one intelligence agency has gone over the background and history of every passenger on that flight. There seems to be a suspicion of "Who Done It". I find myself asking, why? Hard to buy simple suicide; the guy took too many steps. He was probably at the center of whatever was going on, or at the least a key player. I'm inclined to want to really get into "who" was on that flight. And of course, that identity is not going to simply be listed. Who was on the flight and to whom were each person connected on the ground. I could get into this all day! Great story. I didn't follow it at the time but I hope you will keep us updated now. Great piece.

I was the editor who worked on most of David Kerley's MH370 stories for ABC World News Tonight when this happened a decade ago. He is a tireless, awesome reporter and it was an honor to work his stories. I'm not surprised the majority of this wreckage hasn't been found in the deep waters where it probably lies, but I expected we would have a clearer picture of what happened by now. This story takes its place alongside the disappearance of Amelia Earhart in unsolved aviation history. Here's hoping both will soon be answered.
